1.  The importance of motivation

What do you mean by self- discipline? A person can do things in a definite pattern. This is essential for children and adults alike in achieving success. For example, if a child studies with a fixed time table rigorously odds are there that he will succeed. An athlete will ace the competition if he practices regularly. How they do it? This is what this blog is all about.

So what could motivation mean for children? It mainly depends on his upbringing and tastes. Some children would want to become pilots and some would aim for playing games such as cricket. We first have to find the talent, and then provide the right environment. We have to talk to them in detail about the importance of academics in achieving this specific dream. Tell them like if you work hard now, getting that dream fulfilled will be such an easy thing. For this, as the guardians of children, we, parents and teachers need keen eyes to spot the talent of the child.

2.  The importance of planning

Clumsiness is not a virtue. It is a curse. Successful people are never clumsy. They do things in a fixed pattern, and their efforts bear fruit. So in this aspect, we have to help them in making a good time table and tell them nicely to follow it. We must tell them the importance of having time tables, as they would create routines. We can make use of study aids such as post-it notes etc. It is better to have short term plans and long term plans.  Discussing this with children will create a friendly environment.

3.   Following the time table

It is easy to make a time table, but the real task lies in following it. Help the child by reminding them about the time table. This should be done in a friendly manner. Find the areas where the child excel and where he needs support. Design the time table keeping this in mind.

4. Give them rewards

Who doesn’t like a reward after rigorously working?  In the case of children, based on the time table made, divide works into small chunks, and after finishing each chunk, give them some rewards. This will make children getting the feel or worthiness and will improve his/ her self- esteem.

5.   Have some role models

Tell them about great people, how much hard work they did to reach their destinations etc. Having a role model is always good when you are on the way to achieve your dreams.

Children are our dreams. We are witnessing an explosion in technology. The world is getting competitive compared to the times of our predecessors. We have to be their guardian angels to help them soar high into their destinations.
